You know there are some people that come into your life and things are just never the same?
They may not stay in your daily life, but the impact they have on who you are is immeasurable?
A little over five years ago I met Sam, she was pregnant with her first child, and looking for a doula… really wanted a home birth, but her partner wasn’t down with that.
She was referred to me by another doula because, to be honest, the other doulas she met with felt like they couldn’t quite meet her needs. She was… a lot.
- She had a lot of opinions.
- A lot of energy.
- A lot of expectations.
- A lot of demands about her birth.
- A lot going on in her life.
- In her own words… a lot of baggage. (She brought a literal XL Tupperware Bin with her to the hospital full of… A LOT)
When we connected, I instantly fell in love with her.
Despite all that she had going on, I could see that inside of her was a scared little girl who just wanted someone to tell her everything was going to be ok. I think most women can relate.
Through our time together I watched her grow and unfold. I watched the little girl inside of her receive love and support and start to see her own power.
She owned her birth.
It did not come close to meeting her demands or expectations, but it started a transformation inside of her.
- This woman could literally be in the Guinness book of world records for how long she pushed.
- Instead of a home birth she had a cesarean (after all that pushing!)
- She battled perinatal mood disorders and the cultural norms of postpartum recovery and came out a warrior.
This warrior woman came out of her birthing and postpartum time changed. (As do we all.)
She saw herself differently and the world saw her differently.
She now owns a publishing company, named after the son I helped her birth.
She is an empowerment coach.
She guides other powerful people in sharing their stories and
becoming best selling authors. (Like me!!)
After I helped Sam find her power during her birthing time,
she helped me find my voice to write my book,
“Wisdom from the Womb.”
Life-changing.
Seriously, whatever impact me working with her during her birthing time had on her life, she had the same in my life.
An immeasurable impact.
This womb warrior is now on to her next life changing event, and is hosting FEMPOWERED LIVE in 10 days in Denver!
